Guardian is inspired by the concrete tetrapods along the Taoyuan coastline, widely used for coastal protection across Taiwan. Translating this functional infrastructure form into a handcrafted, site-responsive bamboo installation, the project shifts the idea of guardianship from control to coexistence. Using locally sourced bamboo and traditional weaving techniques, the sculpture transforms industrial mass into an organic, breathable structure that responds to wind, light, shadow, and weathering. The work reflects on the fragile balance between development and ecology, while addressing the human–land relationship and the gradual erosion of local craft knowledge. As visitors enter the sculpture’s space, they symbolically become guardians of the coastal landscape.
本作品受桃園海岸線常見的消波塊啟發，探討這類工業設施在功能與象徵意義上的雙重性。消波塊體現了防禦與生態衝擊、抵抗與關懷之間的張力，構成了本作的核心概念。透過將傳統基礎設施轉譯為手工製作的環境裝置，本計畫將「守護」的概念從控制轉向共生。
作品深入反思開發與生態間的脆弱平衡，引導大眾重新思考人與土地、環境的互動關係。編織技法曾深植於海洋與農業生活，在此成為修補斷裂關係的隱喻，藉此應對地方工藝知識的消逝。
雕塑利用在地竹材與傳統編織技藝，重新詮釋消波塊的幾何形態，將沉重的工業量體轉化為有機、可呼吸的通透構造。多孔的表面將風、光、影融入景觀，順應自然風化與無常，展現台灣文化與生態脈絡中的工藝智慧。
作品採用可生物分解的材料與輕量化設計，與海岸環境和諧共融，強調永續性與公共參與。當觀者步入作品空間時，便象徵性地成為了這片海岸景觀的守護者。
